FIRE AT PAEROA.
OWNERS’ HEAVY LOSS.

A billiard saloon and tobacconist’s' shop, owned and occupied by Mr W. Bain, were gutted by Are at one o’clock this morning. The interior of the saloon and two billiard tables were totally destroyed. A confectioner’s shop in the same building, owned by Mrs Bain, was also severely damaged. The whole of the stocks were destroyed by water, heat and smoke. The building and contents were insured in the National Office for £OOO, but the owners are heavy losers.
The cause of the fire cannot be traced,- At 9.30 p.m., when thc f premises were closed, everything was apparently safe.
