SUGAR STOCKS.
ALLEGED HOARDING.
DENIAL FROM DUNEDIN,
In reference to tlio Minister of Commerce’s statement that evidence of sugar hoarding is contained in information from various quarters, and that retailers are appealing to merchants to enable them to unload quantities' in store, inquiry locally brings a complete denial of hoarding. The merchants slate that when they heard a reduction in price was likely owing to Java importations they ceased to order, one big firm reducing its stock to It tons. The merchants also deny that they have received any appeal from retailers to enable unloading.
