TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
MEETING OF ADVISORY BOARD.
At the monthly meeting of the Hamilton Technical School Advisory Board, held on Tuesday, there were present:—Messrs A. B. Manning (■chair), F. A. Snell, J. Tidd, J. Treloar and T. IN. Pemberton. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs J. Gilbert and H. A. Whitaker. A letter was received from the Education Department, stating that no subsidy -would be Paid on the milking machine donated by Mr Treloar. A reply was sent urging the Department to reconsider its decision. The chairman reported that the Hon. C. J. Parr would bo in Hamilton in September.—lt was decided that the Board should arrange a plan and ask the Minister to meet them to discuss it. The school (day and evening class) will close on Friday next, August 24, for a fortnight and re-open on Monday. September 10. The senior master reported that he has had several enquiries from business men hi the town for boys who are leaving school, and who would be suitable for thcJr .particular trades. — M was decided to circularise employers so that those who were requiring ■boys would, after consultation with the principal, 'have the opportunity of ■choosing a suilable apprentice. Terence Vautier, a pupil of the school, was very successful in the education section of the Auckland Winter Show. Out of five entries he gained one first.one second, one very highly commended, one highly commended and one commended. —The Board expressed its keenest appreciation of his work and extended to him: its congratulations. j
