FRANKTON CLUB.
At the annual meeting of the Prankton Lawn",Tennis' Club, ; owing- to the stormy weather the : attendance was limited. - r . The balance-sheet showed the club in a good position financially. The membership was 34. The secretary’s report showed the result of inter-club matches —A team: played 10, won 8, lost 2. B team: Played 4, won 4. A strong working bee was formed to get the courts and surroundings in order, and it is hoped to be ready for play early .next month. The season’s opening is to take place on September 29", when Mr J. A. Young, M.P., patron of the club, is to be invited to open the courts. Owing to ill-health the club suffers the loss of their president of the last three seasons', Mr Thos. Johnson. The resignation was received with regret, and Mr Johnson was thanked for his valuable services to the elub. Several new members were elected. The election of officers resulted: — Patron, Mr J. A.. .Young,' M.P.; president, Mr A. Hunger; vice-presidents, Messrs K. C. MacLaurin, T. Cameron, S. Tapp, J. A. Milne, H. S. Jones, H. J. Nelson, J. Fraser Smith, T. Johnson; captain, Mr V. Hollis'; vice-captain, Mr CL Hailwood; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. McDonagh; auditor, Mr K. C. MacLaurin; general committee —ladies, Misses Newson, E. Hailwood, F. Hunger. H. Armstrong, Mrs Lovell; gentlemen, Messrs G. Parkhouse, Sansom, Garde and Ghatfield; social committee, Messrs Lovell, White, Kilham, P. Hollis, and ladles of general committee.
