HAMILTON SALE.

The Farmers’ Co-operalive Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report:—At our weekly Hamilton sale on Tuesday there was about an average yarding of beef, mainly cows, including a consignment of particularly good quality Herefords from the south. Competition was very keen, the recent rise in values being maintained. " The two pens of steers, which could have curried more condition, made £9 10s to £lO 2s 6d; extra prime cows, £8 ios to £l2; other killable cows, £4 13s to £5 15s; store cows, £1 to £2 2s Od; Jersey and Jersey-cross yearling heifers, £3 to £3 7s; other heifers, 10s to £i Gs. A fair entry of sheep created spirited bidding, fat wethers making £2 3s 6d to £2 ss; fat hoggets, 275; good store hoggets, 245; weedy hoggets, 16s 6d. Three pens of unfinished wethers made 355. The competition for fat pigs was not quite as keen as at recent sales. Stores were also a little easier, although weaners sold well. Heavy baconers, £3 15s to £4 2s; light to medium baconers, £3 4s to £3 12s; heavy porkers to light baconers, £2 15s to £3 3s; light porkers and unfinished, £2 5s to £2 12s; stores and slips, 22s to 355; weaners, good to 20s Oct. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report:— At Frankton yards on Tuesday there was an average yarding of fat sheep, which sold under keen competition. A good entry of beef included several pens of prime station cows and heifers, for which there was spirited bidding, and prices realised showed an advance on late rates. A small offering of stores met with a weak demand. We quote: Fat cows, £8 to £9 7s Gd; fat heifers, £7 7s Gd to £7 15s; lighter cows, £5 16s to £6 7s Gd; rough cows, £3 10s to £4; store cows, £1 Gs to £1 14s; yearling Jerseycross heifers, £2 12s 6d to £4; dairy cows, £2 to £4; fat wethers, £2 7s to £2 7s Gd; inferior fat ewes, £1 7s. A fair yarding of fat pigs came forward, both classes being much easier than last week. Prices realised were: — Heavy baconers, £3 10s to £4 ss; medium baconers, £3 to £3 8s; good porkers, £2 10s to £3; unfinished, £1 19s to £2 ss; slips, £1 5s to £1 16s; good weaners, 19s to £1 4s Gd; small, 12s to 16s; fresh-dropped calves up to 3s 6d.

Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having held their usual weekly stock sale at Frankton saleyards on Tuesday as under: —There was a small yarding of sheep, including a few pens of fats. Prime heavy sheep showed a further rise,'and made up to £2 7s for prime wethers. There were not any prime ewes yarded. Medium made 335, forward wethers made 355, store do. 325, mixed-sexed hoggets medium quality 24s 3d, culls 13s 6d. There was a big yarding of beef, principally cow beef, some of which was exceptionally good quality and heavy weights. Best cow beef sold at up to 30s per hundred, medium quality cow 20s lo 235, forward bullocks sold at £5 14s, store do. up to £3 I Os, store cows at up to 3Ss, 18-months-okl Friesian cross heifers (empty) £4 ss, Jersey cross yearling heifers £2 10s. grade Jersey yearlings £4. Dairy cows yarded were only of moderate quality, and sold at late rates. Store pigs sold at late rates, but prime porkers and baconers were a little lower.
