BRAN AND POLLARD.
PERMITS TO IMPORT,
NO MORE TO BE ISSUED.
THE POSITION RELIEVED
By Telegraph.—Special to Times, WELLINGTON, Wednesday
The Minister of Agriculture has informed Mr J. A. Young (Hamilton) that no further permits for the importation of bran and pollard arc being issued because supplies arc now available from millers. If, however, it is found on the application to millers that they cannot supply orders tUrr-Dopart-ment will be glad to consider applications. When the embargo on importation was lifted and duty suspended ho indicated to the Department the maximum quantity of both bran and pollard tiiat could be imported into the Dominion, and he had 'been advised that the maximum had been reached with respect to both.
Mr Nosworthy added that if it were found that the maximum docs not relieve the shortage, and that supplies are not procurable from millers, the position will be reviewed with the object of allowing merchants to import. In view of permits already issued, large supplies of bran and pollard are expected this week from Australia.
