ENTERTAINMENTS.

THE STRAND THEATRE. Marshall Neilans big-comedy drama "Minnie" will be screened at the popular New Strand Theatre for the last time to-night. Minnie is a story of smiles and tears and brings to the screen a most unusual story that holds the interest of the audience from start to finish and features Leatrice Joy and Matt Moore. Two bright topical subjects and two big laughable comedies complete a fine programme.

TO-MORROWS ATTRACTIONS.

One of the ever popular Zane Grey stories "When Romance Rides," adapted from one of the most popular novels "Wildfire", the picture is a thriller interspersed with lively comedy. The great horse race alone will give spectators their money's worth, but not satisfied with that producer Hampton has staged one of the most desperate struggles between a girl and a man ever filmed. "When Romance Rides" may be summed up as the most colourful and swift-moving of all the Zane Grey pictures. For thrills this picture cannot be beaten. The second feature is the big Fox special "Boss of Camp 4" starring the famous rough rider Buck Jones. The artist for the next three days is Thelma Penberthy who gives an exceptionally clever impersonation of an Idol Dance. Little Miss Penberthy is the cleverest dancer wo have seen and we feel sure will in the near future be a credit to Hamilton, Seats may be reserved at Lewis R. Eady and Son Ltd. or by phone 1422. COMING "SMILIN THROUGH."

Norma Talmadge's production, "Smilin' Through," which will be the First National attraction at the Strand Theatre on Friday next is said to be the most costly, elaborate and artistio photoplay yet made by that star. New York, Long Island and California furnished backgrondus for the filming of Allen Langdon Martin's famous play, in which Jane Cowl appeared on the speaking stage. Remarkable moonlight scenes were obtained in the night set at Norma's New York studio, while exceptional exteriors were filmed within the day studio on Long Island. To those were added several picturesque "shots" in California. Harrison Ford, Wyndham Standing, Alex Francis, Miriam Battista and other screen notables appear in "Smilin Through." The plan is now open at Lewis R. Eady and Son Ltd. where seats may be booked.

FRANKTON'S OWN THEATRE,

There was a very big house on Saturday, and the pictures were splendidly received. To-night's fine list will be headed by that sterling player Robert Warwick in his best play, " The Fourteenth Man." Ruth Roland will star in her grand serial, "The Timber Queen," and Harry Roach's comedy, " Hot from the Press " will provoke much fun. That fine short subject, Pathe's Coloured Review and " Grasshoppers " will complete the fine bill. There will be a complete change to-morrow. LAST OF VERY FINE FILMS. The popular Theatre Royal was filled long before 8 o'clock on Saturday, and numbers were turned away. The pictures shown were worthy of the great patronage and to-night's final screening should not be missed. Gloria Swanson's gowns in "My American Wife " are truly wonderful, and the production of the rattling story told is upon a magnificent scale. Anna Q. Nilsson'is fine drama " What Woman Will Do," with its excellent moral, its exciting horse race and bathing pool episodes, is a real public favourite. Everybody admires that fine short subject " Pathe's Coloured Review. Seats for to-night's last performance should be reserved over 'phone 1580.

"BLOOD AND SAND."

Rodolph Valentino is coming to the Theatre Royal for a season of three nights, beginning to-morrow evening in his world-famous picture triumph, " Blood and Sand." The appearance of this outstanding screen success lias been keenly watched for, and the big bouses that have greeted " the screen's perfect lover " elsewhere are sure to bo repeated here. " Blood and Sand " was written by the author of •■ The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse," and of it the Motion Picture World writes: "'Blood and Sand' awakens in all who see it a now understanding of the power of Ihe screen, and a new love of life's greater emotions." Nita Naldi, now one or the most celebrated of screen actresses, leaped into fame in a night per medium of her wonderful work done in support of Valentino In " Blood and Sand." 'Early application for seats at Paul's is advisable.
