ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
CHINESE TEAM IN SYDNEY.
FIRST MATCH IN A DRAW.
United Press Association. SYDNEY, August 12. Over 40,000 spectators were present when the Chinese Soccer team took the field to the accompaniment of warm applause, and a skirl of bagpipes. The gathering included many Chinese, from market gardeners to prosperous-look-ing merchants, all keen on cheering on their countrymen. Marching on the field the visitors seemed ungainly and clumsy alongside the local men, but in action they disclosed astonishing speed and skill, as a team and individually. By keen, careful play they quickly registered two goals against the local players, but the latter added three goals, and looked like annexing honours till China add_ed the third goal, making the result a draw.
