WAIKATO PRESBYTERY.

BUSINESS MEETING. The Presbytery met at Knox Church, Morrinsville, on August 7, under the presidency of the Rev F. A. Thompson (Moderator). There was a fair attendance of delegates though a number were prevented from attending through the prevailing sickness. In addition to a considerable amount of routine and private business, it was reported that an anonymous friend had donated £75 towards the purchase of a cottage for the use of the homo mission in the Hauraki —Waerenga district and the Presbytery expressed its appreciation of this generous gift. It was reported that the Rev. H. and Mrs Davies, of the Canton Village Mission would be in Hamilton on August 28, and would take part in the farewell functions to Dr. Harold Turbott and Miss Mathew.

Rev. J. A. Rybum reported on behalf of the commission appointed to visit the parish of Cambridge. The report was very favourable and indicated that good progress had been made during the three years under review. There had been a steady increase in the membership. The income had been well maintained and the very fine up-to-date school room which had been erected was a practical evidence of the generosity of the congregation. The following minute concerning the pastorate of the Rev. T. 11. Roseveare was adopted, viz., “On the occasion of the transfer of the Rev. L. H. Roseveare from the parish of Cambridge to that of Papatoetoe, the Presbytery would place On record its high estimate of him as a minister of the gospel and as a co-Presbyter. His congregation learned to love him and in our church courts he was a leader and a brother beloved, and all regret his removal. As a preacher his very able and systematic teaching of the great fundamentals of our faith was a feature of his ministry, many of his special addresses attracting considerable attention. As an evangelist he has been used of Go-d, both in his own and other parishes, where he has conducted special missions. Mr Roseveare has taken an active part in the work of the Presbytery and has always been ready to do his utmost to further all that concerns'the extension of the church of God. Special mention should be made of his marked success as the convener of the district Bible Class Union. Through his zeal and personal influence very considerable advance has been made in the Bible Class work throughout the Presbytery. We wish for him great blessing and success In his new sphere.” In the evening the Presbytery met with the office-bearers of the Morrinsville church .and afterwards a congregational meeting was held when addresses were given by the Revs. F. A. Thompson and A. M. Aspland.
