I It wa& decided that the librarian, Miss G. Pulman, be temporarily attached to the Hamilton Library, so that she might obtain a working knowledge of the system.. It was decided that the library tours for the timebeing should be from i pjn. to 5.30 p.m., and from 7 p.m. , to 9.30 p.m. on week days, and from 9.30 am. to i-30 p.nz, only on Sundays. It was reported that the contractor bad the inside work completed, but that owing to the recent continuous
«ret weather the plasterers were un*ble to make very much, headway. However, .during the last two weeks She work had been somewhat expedited. The furnishings were coming to hand, and once the building is igormally handed over no time would fee lost in opening it for the public (benefit. It was intended to ask His ' Worship the Mayor (Mr J. R. Fow) to •fftciate, assisted by Mr C. Barton ifchairman of the Hamilton Library Committee), who had been watching 4he progress of the building on behalf Of the Hamilton Library and the Borough Council. The architects (Messrs Warren and Blychenden) were to be complimented on the structure, and Itad shown great care in the preparation of details to provide for a most SKfmfortable'and up-to-date building. f !ln regard to donations of books, the (report stated that the response to date ll*ad not been up to expectations. It was considered that many citizens were holding off until the official openin'''. The books donated to date were all in an excellent state of preservation, but there was still room for a fekv hundred more. It was also pointed out in -the report that there was ample space on the walls for pictures, and it was suggested that those who Say have photos of early Frank-ton might present them to the library.
