THREATENING A WITNESS.
SOCIAL WORKER CHARGED. SEQUEL TO HAYNE CASE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. DUNEDIN, Wednesday. Rosina Sarah McFio, a well-known social worker and a member of the Hospital Board, was charged at the Supreme Court to-day that she attempted to dissuade, by threats, bribe or other corrupt means, a witness from giving evidence in the case against .lames Reynolds Hayne and' Elizabeth Simpson Inglis, that she wilfully attempted to obstruct, pervert and defeat the course of justice by attempting to dissuade the same witness from giving evidence against Elizabeth Simpson Inglis. Evidence similar to that in the Lower Court was givenThe defence was a complete denial of the allegations. Evidence was given by the accused and another woman, whom accused met outside the hospital. In his address to the jury counsel for accused submitted that the Crown's evidence was ■ unsatisfactory. A verdict of not guilty was returned.
