ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

REPRESENTATIVE (HATCH. WAIKATO v. ICING COUNTRY. (By “Lex.”) The following will represent King Country at Sc.cldon Park on Saturday afternoon next: —Goal, lsbester; backs, Ponnal and Edmonds; halves, Chamberlain, Spence (captain), and Speers; forward!/, Brookes, Kerr, Knocks, Jennings and Lyngard. Reserves; Back, Simmons; forward, Miller.

JOTTINGS.

(By “Lex.”) I was pleased to see Mr Alan Smith officiating in a match on Saturday. The Kjng Country eleven selected to play against Waikato at Seddon Park, with two or three exceptions,, is the same side that beat the Hamiltonians by the odd goal in three at Taumarunui on July 1 14th last. Undoubtedly their star man is Spence, who incidentally captains the side, and with the exception of Corbett, is the finest centre half I have seen this season. As a matter of fact their half-back line is exactly the same as at Taumarunui, and is a very strong department indeed. Pounal, at right full-back, is also a real good player, the best of the forwards being Kerr, on the right wing. The visitors will arrive on Friday night, and will in all probability stay at “Almadale.” Mr Lowe, of the Claudelands Rovers' Club, must be very pleased at the way his young men are shaping, and they will in all probability be pitted against an eleven from the combined schools on Saturday next, as a curtain-raiser to the big match. The loading goal scorers to date in the genior clubs of the Upper Waikato district are: —Moon (Wanderers) 11, Hoy (United) 10, Barnett (United) 8, Johnston (Morrinsville) 7, Marsden (Waihou) 6, Binriie (United) 4. Haycock (Morrinsville) 3, C. Crabb (Wanderers) 3, Potts (Wanderers) 3, Louden (Waihou) 3, T. Wishart (Wanderers) 3, Daniels (United) 3. I hear that when Wanderers' B meet the United in the Ilowden Cup draw they have a “surprise' packet” player to produce, and if all I hear is true he is the real goods. It is quite likely that when the Ilowden Gup final fs fought in Hamilton, somewhere about the middle of next month, a well-knowji Auckland referee of first-class reputation will have charge of the teams.
