A GUARD FINED £2. By Telegraph.—Pre-?s \ppoeiaiion. ASIIBURTON, Monday. The guard on the train which was derailed on the Mount Somcrs branch line has been notified 'that he has been fined £2 and transferred lo Christchurch, "as a punishment. Tor failing lo comply with the regulation test of the Westinghouse brake." This is a sequel to the derailment on June 15, wherein 00 lives, including children, were imperilled. Settlers are now petitioning for a Commission of Inquiry, alleging Dial the derailment was owing to the serious disrepair of the line.
