Firemen went below Ithe Central .Mine at Broken Hill to clear the atmospliere with the aid of a suction plant. They ultimately succeeded in turning the hoses on Ihe ll.unes. The men reported that Ihe (lames were extinguished. The four hundred foot level was then sealed.
