PAPAROA MINE DISPUTE.
INTERPRETATION OF AWARD. COMPANY'S READING UPHELD. By Telegraph.—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Friday. About 120, miners went on strike, claiming that"the Paparoa Coal Company was misreading the terms of the award relating to special rates of pay for trucking coal from isolated portions of the mine, and making improper use of the provision. The dispute was referred to a committee, which being unable to arrive at an agreement, left it to Mr Poynton, chairman, for a final decision. lie has now given his award in favour of the company's interpretation.
