BROADCASTING ARTISTS.
COMPANIES TO BE FORMED. An official of the British Broadcasting Company stated that the decision of the theatrical managers not to allow their plays or players to form part of the wireless broadcast programme would not interfere at all with the .company's arrangements. "We shall now," he said, "make our plans far forming our own companies. So far as artists are concerned, it is not every present-day theatrical or music-hall 'star' who can broadcast successfully. We have found that some artists who are not regarded as front-rank 'stars' broadcast perfectly. This means that as the kinema created a new kind of performer, yet another kind will become prominent in broadcasting." The Incorporated Society of Authors, Playwrights, and Composers are warning their members to secure a substantial return for any license cr right they may convey which includes the new market. At a meeting of the Concert. Artists' Association it was decided to suspend for the present all negotiations with the British Broadcasting Company.
