HIVE IN A CLOCK.
For 20 years efforts have been made to stop bees from turning the school clock at Micheldever, Hampshire, into a hive, but without success. The swarm was destroyed last year, but morn have come back this year. The entrance made last year through the cement by the dock face was repaired, but they have bored a fresh hole through it. Fumigating has been equally unsuccessful. Large quantities of honey have been removed, and some of it was wound so tightly round the main spindle that works' the clock hands that it had to be broken off with a hammer and chisel. The time-keeping of the clock has not been affected.
