The Channel steamer Caesarea, carrying 400 passengers for Southampton, struck a rock in a fog after leaving Jersey. The captain endeavoured to return to Jersey Harbour, but had to beach the vessel outside St. Helier's piers. The passengers MX&Q landed. A TOTAL WRECK. United Press Association. Received July 9, 12.10 p.m. SUVA, July 9. The American schooner Alert MacDonakl became a total wreck on the island of Niuafoon whilst loading copra.
