Mr C. M. Whyte, Tirau, has been appointed' deputy ' registrar of marriages, births and deaths. A London cable message states that Sir Robert Home, formerly Chancellor of the Exchequer, has been appointed a director of Lloyds Bank. Mr D. Mackinnon, the newly-ap-pointed Australian Trade Commissioner, has. arrived at New York and assumed duty. The death is announced of Admiral Debon, who was Chief of the French Naval Staff during the war, and French naval expert at the Washington Armaments Conference. The death occurred yesterday of Mr Henry Wallace Lawson, late manager of the Auckland branch of the National Bank of New Zealand, after a prolonged illness. The late Mr Lawson was born in Balmain, Sydney, in 18G2. The death occurred at New Plymouth on Saturday of Dean Thomas McKcnna, aged GO. Dean McKcnna was born in Ireland, and came to NewZealand in 18S8.
