NAVAL ESTIMATES.

COMMITTEE'S RECOMMENDATIONS PAY REDUCTION ADVISED. Australian and N.Z. Cr.ble Assn. LONDON, June 21. The Select Committee on the naval estimates recommends that officers and men's pay should be reviewed in 1924. The committee is of opinion that the administrative staff needs reorganisation and reduction. The "reports point out that seamen's pay is still 150 per cent, above the pre-war rates. The men are still receiving the post-war marriage allowances, which are costing £1,000,000 annually, while only one-sixth of the officers' present pay is liable to reduction. Mr Stanley Baldwin, in the House of Commons, said he hoped next week to be able to announce the Government's decision regarding British air power. •
