A Queen Street (Masterton) shopkeeper whose premises were recently burgled thought he had an excellent clue in a large footprint on some new concrete at the back. Having heard of the fingerprint department, he thought the police might also have a range of footprints by which he could identify the burglar. He was rudely disappointed when a constable admitted that the footmark was left by himself while doing his conscientious round some day's before the burglary. ___
