DAIRY FARMERS ' UNION.

MOTUMAOHO BRANCH. The annual meeting of the Motu-mao-bo brancli of the N.Z. Dairy Farmers’ Union was held in the hall on the 10 th inst. Mr B. U. Barlow presided over an excellent attendance. The secretary, in his report, stated that the branch had made good progress during the past year, the membership having increased by over JOO per cent. Much good work had been accomplished; the branch had organised strong opposition to the Thames harbour loan, had strongly advocated herd-testing by the association method, the reduction of freight on dairy produce, the reduction of advances from the Advances to Settlers’ Department on loans to repay existing mortgages, and increasing the limit of advances to £3OOO. The questions of banking, federation of primary industries and many other subjects of national and local importance had received careful consideration. The secretary presented the balance-sheet for the year, showing that the branch had been conducted on most economical lines.

General appreciation was expressed with the past year’s work, and the report was adopted. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to the chairman and secretary for their services during Hie year. Mr B. U. Barlow was re-elected president, Mr S. A. Ferguson vicepresident, and Mr T. T. Scrivener secretary.

A large amount of correspondence was received from the Hamilton office of the union, also letters from the Piako County Council and the Brookfield branch of the Dairy Farmers’ Union.

The' president gave an interesting resume of the recent conference at Palmerston N., explaining the phenomenal progress the union is making and the various remits dealt with, Including the federation of producers, which is receiving the approval of Various kindred Industries.

The chairman and secretary were appointed to represent this branch at the Hamilton conference on June 26, when various remits, including herdtesting and various proposed amendments to the Dairy Control Bill, will be considered.
