THE WEATHER.

The following barometer and thermometer readings, taken from 9 a.m. daily, and weather conditions, are kindly supplied by Mr James Breriner: Thermometer: Wednesday ..58 42 Barometer. Thursday 29.40 Yesterday was showery, with westerly winds. Mean temperature, 50 degrees. Barometer low at* 29.40. Indications are that unsettled weather will continue, with heavy rain showers. Winds from north-west, later becoming high, and backing to southwest. The Weather Bureau wires: The in--dicatlons are for westerly winds, strong to gale, but backing by west to south soon. The weather will probably prove squally, with heavy showers, and will probably become very cold. Barometer unsteady, but rising fast.
