At tlie trial of Kelly, evidence was given by Oliver, a prisoner in tlie Melbourne gaol, that Kelly while in gaol told him that tie got Mrs Overall to make a will while 'under Ihe influence of drink. He then gave her a spoonful of arsenate of lead daily till her death. lie cut up the body, buried a portion, and threw the rest, into the River Yarra. Kelly, who gave his name as O’Keefe, in giving evidence on Ids own behalf, said that Mrs Overall drank heavily. lie said to her ho would find her dead some day, and she replied "If you do cremate mb; keep my remains on the place. Don’t tell anyone.” When she died he remembered her request. He therefore rolled her body In blankets and burned il. and then pul the ashes in a bag and dropped it into the Yarra.
