THE BETTING TAX.
EVIDENCE TO BE HEARD. Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn. (Received May 5, 11.30 a.m.) > LONDON, May 4. The House of Commons, in Committee on the betting tax, decided first to hear the evidence of the Home Office regarding the betting laws, then that of the police heads, regarding the extent and kinds of betting, alss to obtain evidence from the Board of Customs regarding the practicability of a betting duty, and from representatives" of foreign, countries and the dominions where such duty is already imposed. Finally evidence will.be taken of and those opposed to the tax on moral grounds or grounds of policy.
