MAIN ROAD DEVELOPMENT. United Press Association. PERTH, May 4. Hon. S. M. Bruce has announced that the Government is providing £■500,000 for the States on-a £ for £ basis for national main.roads development, and steps are being taken to encourage cotton production. -Mr Bruce, outlining the proposals for the Premiers' Conference, said the Commonwealth was proposing to withdraw from the field of taxation incomes of lqss than £2OOO. The leeway will be made up by taxing the excess of incomes over £2OOO at a rale applicable lo the whole amount of income. No tax-free loan's are to be issued in future. A council of Federal and State treasurers will be appointed for the co-ordination of public borrowing.
