INQUEST AT CAMBRIDGE.

LATE ROBERT EDMEADES. A coroner's inquest on the body of Robert Edmeades, who met his death in a motor car accident on the Wharf Road, Cambridge, on February 10th last, was presided over by Mr 11. A. Young. George Warren Edmeades, a farmer at Putaruru, said that the body was that of his late father, Robert Edmeades, who resided at Wellington. He and others, including deceased, were driving round a corner in a car when they met a motor cycle and sidechair, and they swerved over to allow room. The car struck a rut, and swerved, which threw the car down the bank. It was purely an accident, and he did not blame anyone.

George Braithwaite, farmer, Whitehall, said that on February 10, 1923, he was driving a Ford car round Wharf street in the direction of Karapiro Bridge. Deceased was sitting in the back scat with his wife. When he was turning the sharp bend in Wharf Street he met a motor cycle and side chair, lie blew the horn before going round the bend. The road was very narrow, and he pulled over to the side lo make room, but the wheel came in contact with the cycle; the car gave a big bump, and went over the bank. They were all thrown out. He went to deceased and wife wtio were some feet below the road. The motor cycle was travelling slowly, and there was a young lady in the chair.

Frederick William Brown said that on February 10th, 1922, he was driving a motor cycle and side car along Wharf Street. He had a lady in Hie chair with him. He saw Ihe car coining when he was 11 yards from Ihe corner, lie pulled over sharp to the left. He was going very slowly, under 10 miles an hour. After the car went over the bank h" hastened back, and found deceased lying on his face. Dr. Waller Stapley said deceased described the fall to him. Falling on his arm with the whole weight of hi* body behind, was quite sufficient lo cause Ihe injury, anil this injury was the direct o-ause of death. A verdict was returned thai deceased was accidentally killed by being thrown from a motor car, and added a rider I hat il was purely accidental, no blame being attachable lo any person.
