THAMES VALLEY BOARD. At Tuesday’s meeting of the Thames Valley Power Board, the following reports were submitted: — Manager’s Report. Th e manager, Mr Reg. Sprague, reported as follows: —Gangs: The readjustment of gangs ag agreed upon at the last Board meeting has been made with the exception of Matamata. This will be attended to in the next few days. Poles: The “Lindstol” with poles arrived on February 26, but was unable to berth until Sunday, March 4. Unloading commenced on Monday morning, sth. Discharging should be completed within the next 10 days. This will allow several sections of work to be undertaken. The line has now been completed along Cadrnan road, same being made alive on Sunday, 4th. This now connects up a 50 h.p. motor and a 3 h.p. motor. Supply: The Department has been approached with reference to supply at Waihou from Hora flora, .and a definite arrangement shouJ^' v now be completed. TrojljleiTibn’s Reports: These are on the table for your perusal. It will not be necessary in the interim to consider the connection at Waihou sub-station owing to the fact that the load will not increase to any extent. I discussed this with Mr McLennan, and he agreed with me. Breakdowns: The 3000 volt line broke at the far end of Bailey’s road, on Mr Coombe’s property about midnight on Friday, 2nd., the wire being Jin., a piece of which is on the table. Three cows were electrocuted. The excuse of this iwas a nitch in the wire paused during erection or faulty manufacture. Mr Goombes is writing to the Board on the matter, and, I would suggest that power be given to the chairman to deal with same. Transformers: The transformers ordered from Tolley and Co. should arrive within four or five weeks’ time, and we are endeavouring to obtain from the South transformers to tide us over until arrival. Canvass: The canvass from Waikino is now being completed, and requires 25 additional consumers, who are being obtained. v Eleven stoppages of power supply occurred during the month, and of these nine were due to'faults in the Public Works Department, circuits, each stoppage averaging about two minutes. The other two stoppages were tlue to faults on the; Board’s circuits, and were purely local, affecting only certain portions of the area. The report was adopted.

Engineers* Report.

The engineers, Messrs Gauvain and McLeod, reported as follows: — Thames Section: The branch line from the main 11,000 line to Kopu is completed and work is how proceeding on the sub-mains. The low-tension branch line down Wesleyan Gully is finished. The low-tension line at Puriri is completed, and the majority of consumers connected. A line was run to the Hikutaia factory, which is now receiving power. The high-ten-sion telephone line"' has been run from the Board's sub-station at Parawai to the Thames Borough generating station. The whole of the PaeroaThamos 11,000 volt main line, with all subsidiary lines, have been inspected by the Public Works Department. Hauraki Plains Section:Street lighting complete with time switch have been installed at Ngatea, and were connected' up on February 15. A transformer platform has been erected at Hay wards. Await} West Road: The poling of this road, which is arranged for the 11,000 volt circuit, is completed. Kawakawa Road: Pole erection on this riad has started. Kopua-rahi-Orongo: The high and low tension wiring has been completed, and services are now being'run. PaeroaTe Aroha Section (Gadman's Road): The poling and wiring of this road has been completed and transformer stations erected. It is expected to have power on the flax mill within the next few days. Old Te ArohaPaeroa Road: A start has been made on the extension of the 11,000 volt line on this road, and poling has been completed for about one mile. Work is aiso proceeding on a low tension line on this road. Morrinsville Section: The service lines on McGregor's road were completed early in the month, and on the 15th inst. this section was made alive. Work is proceeding on the pole line on the main Tahuna Road, and the line has now reached the cross roads at Mangataparu, where a transformer platform has been - constructed. This position, which will 'become a main feeding point,, is approximately five miles from Morrinsville. WaharoaWaitoa Section: The main 11,000 volt line has been made alive as far as Ngarua. The low tension line between Waharoa and Walton road corner has been finished, and all service main completed and consumers connected. Street lights have been installed at Waharoa. Matamala-Gor-don Section: Pole erection lias commenced On this section, and about 40 more poles need to be erected to connect with the main Te ArohaGordon line. Te Poi Section (.Taihoa Road) : The ring circuit on this road has been completed to the junction with the Hinuera line, and consumers were supplied on February 5. Wai-omo-Te Poi: A section- of this line with high and low tension wiring was completed during the month, and a transformer platform erected. Street lights have been installed at Te Poi. Davis Road: The high and low tension wiring was completed at the beginning of the month. Two sub-stations have been Erected, and all consumers supplied on 241 h inst. Okoroire Section: The low tension line has been extended from the Okoroire sub-station towards Hinuera. Mauiigatautari Section ( Judd's Road) : Pole erction and wiring on this road has been completed. Two transformer structures have been erected on the Public Works Main line. Work is proceeding on the service lines. The report was adopted.
