r « __ LATE SIR WILLIAM HERRIES.
HOSPITAL BOARD'S TRIBUTE.
Glowing reference to the esteemed personage of the late Sir William Herries was made by Mr J. P. Bailey (chairman) and by members at today's meeting of the Waikato Hospital Board. Speaking with evident emotion all eulogised in the highest terms the work of the departed statesman, Who, they said, was a good, kindhearted friend, ever willing to assist in any matter of benefit to his country. He was one or the finest men New Zealand ever knew, and in his departure into the Great Beyond the country had sustained an Immeasurable loss. The late Sir WilHam was a strong fighter, and a great, hardy man,' but nevertheless he could not fail to make friends everywhere. Mr Bailey mentioned that the deceased gentleman had a great deal to do with the Hospital Board, remarking that Sir William Frederick Lang and himself had been elected to the Board in the same year, 1893, A motion expressing the deepest sorrow in Sir William's death was then carried in silence, the members standing. « ■
