RUSHES IN THE LAKE.

CLEARING OUT NECESSARY.

BOARD TO MAKE INQUIRIES

The great detriment which the growth of rushes and other weeds was to the beauty and general attractiveness of the Hamilton Lake was referred to by Mr R- G. Fowler, chairman of the Domain Board at last night's meeting of the Board. Mr Fowler.said that he understood there was a light dredge somewhere in the south of the province suitable for cleaning-out purposes, and he would like to propose that the' matter be looked into. Mr Swarbrick said that the cause of the rushes at present growing in the lake was the lowering of the lake two years ago, for the reeds only grew in a certain depth of water. Jf was a simple manner with thecorreet equipment to clear the weeds out of the lake. The chairman was authorised to make enquiries as to the best method of clearing out the growth of noxious water weeds.
