Walton Road Loans.

The Public Trust Office pointed out that in regacd to the proposed Walton road loan of £6OOO, that the ratepayers’ consent prescribes a special rate of l|d in the’ £. This special rate is struck over property the rateable value of which is £58,600, and will provide only £396 15s sd, whereas the anual charges on the loan plus the statutory levy, 10 per cent additional will amount to £462, made up as follows: £6OOO at 6 per cent, £360; one per cent sinking fund, £6O; 10 per cent additional, £42.—Total, £462. It therefore appears that a special rate of at least- ljd will be necessary to provide the loan. Ngarua Road Loan.

Mr G. L. Laird wrote objecting to any of his property being included in the Ngarua Road special ( rating area, on\the grounds (1) that the property will not receive any benefit from the proposed work; (2) that his property is already being rated on two special metalling loans, whereas all the properties nearer Te Aroha are only paying on one special loan, and the properties beyond are only pacing on special loan. / r The following settlers also objected to being included in the new area, on the ground that their properties will not derive any benefit from the proposed work: Messrs W.
