PRESBYTERIAN ATTITUDE. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. The Presbyterian General Assembly concluded its discussion on the Church and war, the original resolution being amended lo reach—“ The Assembly recognises and deplores the awfulness of war, even in defence of a righteous cause, and affirms its belief in the possibility of peace through justice and goodwill without appeal lo the arbitrament of the sword.”
A phrase in the original motion', “Realising the criminal folly of war,” was deleted. Dr. Gibb said the committee was practically unanimous as to the result of (he-compromise. The motion, as amended, was carried unanimously.
