THE ILL-FATED AVIATORS
REASON FOR DESCENT. OIL FLOW INTERRUPTED. WATER IN THE PETROL. (Australian and®N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received September 4, 9.30 a.m. DELHI, September 2. Captain MacMillan, the aviator, states that a mistaken impression ap- ; pears to prevail regarding the reason I tiie aviators originally came down at Lukliidiagar. There was no mechani- : cal fault in the engine, which ran perfectly until'the petrol flow to the j carburettors was interrupted by an airlock. This could have been remedied if'they had been flying at a greater altitude, hut owing to stress of weather they had to fly at only 400ftand were forced to come down. Their subsequent difficulties were due to water in Hie petrol.
