CIVIL WAR IN IRELAND
AN AFFRAY IN CORK. UNARMED SOLDIERS FIRED ON. (Australian and N.Z, Cable Assn.), Received September 4, 9 a.m. LONDON, A machine-gun mounted on a motor cycle side car opened fire across thp river on a parade of unarmed soldiers in Cork. Two were killed- and eleven wounded by expanding bullets. ARREST OF A STEAMER. LADEN WITH ARMS AND MUNITIONS BRITISH DESTROYER’S CAPTURE. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.)l Received September 4. 1.40 p.m. LONDON, August 3. • The British destroyer Doon arrested outside Cork harbour a steamer partly laden with arms and ammunition. The vessel was steaming in a westward'direction towards Ireland. She is beingescorted to Dublin, where she will be handed over to the authorities. The vessel left Hamburg w/h a declared general cargo, but the authorities were warned hf her true character.
