SUCCESSFUL PADDY'S MARKET. At the Cambridge Tojwn Hall on Friday, a Paddy’s market, held in aid of the Cambridge Plunket Society, proved to be a very successful funclion. The 'hall was well filled with people, and the various stalls reported good business. Nurse Underwood, of Hamilton, kindly tided as judge for the baby competition, in which the entries totalled 36. This was a feature of the day. Th e results, as announced by Mr J. W. Cocks, were as follows: —Class 1, up to three months: Bertha Peake 1 (only entrant). Prize, silver serviette ring. Class 2, from three to nine months: Lindsay Lewis 1, Grant Cox 2 (eight entrants). Prize, silver serviette ring. Class’ 3, from nine to 15 months: Rhys Potts 1, Gwenda Speight 2 (10 entrants)’. Prize, silver spoon. Class 4. from 15 months to two years. Peter Griffiths-Joncs 1, Pat Singer 2 (seven entrants). Prize, silver fork and spoon. Class 5, twins: Beatrice and Evelyn Tyson 1 (5 pairs entered). Prize, two silver spoons'. The prizes were donated by Mesdames S- Lewis, John Peake, Singer and Booth, and the prize for the twins by Mrs G. B. Simpson.

The management of ihe various stalls was in the hands of the following ladies: —Cake stall, Mesdames L. .T. Haughey W. H. Hall, and J. D. McArthur; plain and fancy, Mesdames 11. D. Dallimore and W. Hogan; produce, Mrs Simpson; flower, Miss Bonnie Speight and Miss Jean Hulme; refreshment rooms, Mesdames W- While, George, Calvert, McAlister, S. Lewis, Booth and J. Peake, with Misses Rita Care, Barnett, 11. Moorchouse. M. Cox, and Doris Simpson as assistants. The baby show was in the hands of Mrs O. Gane and Nurse Goulstone.

The following ladies’ committee are to be congratulated upon the result of their efforts in connection with the general management of the fair:— Mesdnmes S. Lewis (president) W. White, G. Calvert, W. McAllister, Booth, 0. Ganc, H. W. Hall, L. J. Haughey, J. D. McArthur, Dallimore, Ilogan, Simpson, .T. Peake (secretary). During the afternoon the following musical programme was contributed: —- Pianoforte solo: “Song Without Words,” Mr J. W. Cocks; song, “Keep on Hoping,” Mr R. Calloway; son\ r , “The Garden of Your Hear!,” Miss Florence Mitchell; monologue, “His First Long Trousers,” Mr Frank Penn; song, "The Slave Song,” Miss L. Thompson; song, “Needles-and Pins,” Mr Cocks; violin solo, “Grand March” (Blake), Miss A. Noon; song, “I Wonder if ever the Rose,” Mr Calloway;'; song, “My Heart is Sair for Somebody,” Miss Mitchell. Mr Cocks supplied the accompaniments. A weight-guessing competition for a cake (.7Alb) was won by .Mrs A. L. Fitzgerald, who, with four other Indies, guessed the correct weight, the draw being in her favour"flic amounts taken at the,.individual stalls were: Cake £0 8s lid, refreshments £8 8s lid, meat, produce and Powers £l2 Os Gd, plain and fancy £lO ■is id, and from the baby show £1 Is, with extra donations making a total of £42 os 6d. All those who in any way assisted to make the function the success it was are to be congratulated on the result. In the near future the Plunket Committee hope to hold a children’s queen carnival in aid of the Plunket Society.
