PROHIBITIVE CHARGES.

Speaking at the Pastures Board. Convention, Mr Chaffcy said that for some time the costs of production of marketing of primary industries had been prohibitive and an adjustment was necessary to enable the producers to compete with other countries. He sympathised with the cattlemen. He arc getting about Id per lb for their meat, which is selling in thc shops at lOd.
