BOTTOMLEY LIBEL ACTION
BIGLAND COMMITTED, ' MAGISTERIAL STRICTURES. PLAINTIFF CRITICISED. (Australain and N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, November 9. The Magistrate committed Bigland for trial on a charge of libel, but on a charge of attempting to extort i;f.0,000 from Botlomley, Sir J. Biron, Iho Magistrate, said lie was unable to believe Botlomley on oath. Willi respect to the charge he did not believe Bottomley's prosecution for blackmail was an honest and bona-flde prosecution; therefore he dismissed it. Rut he committed Bigland on another ehnrse of inciting other people to extort money. He did this on the grounds I hat. the charge did not depend on Bottomley's evidence. Bail was allowed.
