❖ ■ STEPS TO STOP POLLUTION. HAMILTON COUNCIL'S EFFORTS. The ever-recurring complaints by residents along the banks of thr w.-iifp-whiriwhiri stream, which runs between Frankton and Whitiora, of Ihc pohufion of [he stream, ami the consequent danger to lxcalt.li, has resulted in correspondence from the Waiiui County Council to Ihc Hamilton Council i,n ,f.he matter. Tli c Legal and Finance Gnmmmilt.ee on the laller body has gone inlo the subjerl, and lasl night marie the following recommendations, whicli wriv adopted: "That Hie Council advise the Waipa County Council and Mr Reekie tliat Hie Council and the persons coneerneil are doing all that can be done to abate the nuisance. —That the Council also advise the Dairy fVimpany that llieir action in endeavouring to cope with Hie nuisance from their buildings is appreciated.— That the Conncl write to the General Manager of Railways calling attention to the difficulty that will arise in dealing with the sewerage ciraingae from the cottages and other buildings creeled and being erected by the Department. and asking whether the Department cannot, assist to finance the borough scheme so as to eliminate the necessity for the Department, providing a scheme of its own A copy of Inspector Lewis' report, to be sent to the General Manager of Railways.
