NEW AEROPLANE
A DUTCH INVENTiOft SUCCESSFUL TRIALS (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, October J2. Demonstrations or a new Alula aeroplane wing, invention of llollc, a Dutchman, designed to give great lifting power, proved successful. Fitted to a Martinsyde machine, with a Hipano Suiza engine of 200 horsepower, the machine ascended at. a sharp angle, and reached an altitude of 3000 feet in 72sccs., with a maximum speed of ISO miles an hour. The wing is made entirely of mahogany, has no struts, I and is shaped simalar to a seagull's I wings.
