WESTFIELD MARKETS. Dalgely and Company, Ltd., report on their fat stock sale at Westfield on Wednesday—Boef: A fair yarding. Prices showed a slight increase, about Is per 1001 b. Extra prime ox 345, prime 27s to 325, plain and second quality 20s to 275; prime cow and heifer beef 26s to 30a, plain las to 21s. Sbce-p: A moderate yarding. Prices were about Hie same as last week. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report;— At Westfield fat stock market on Wednesday beef was penned in average numbers- There, was an improved demand, especially for light-weight prime cattle, quotations being better than last report. We quote: Extra choice oxen In 35s per 1001 b, choice and prime 30s to 345, rough and unfinished 24s to 20s; young cow and heifer beef, 25s to 29s per 1001 b, other cow beef 18s to 245, No extra heavy prime cattle; penned. Heavy prime steers sold to £l4 10s, medium £ll to £l3 17s 6d, light £8 to £lO 17s 6d, small and unfinished £5 10 s to £7 17s Cd: young cows and heifers £6 to £9, others £3 2s 6d to £5 17s Gd. Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report: On Wednesday a,t our weekly Westfield fat stock market our supply of fat cattle totalled 507 head, comprising' 43-4 steers, 71 cows and heifers and two bulls. There were many lines of heavy prime steers, and the quality generally of the ox beef was equal to anything ever offered at Westfield. Competition was steady throughout, last week’s values being easily sustained and in odd cases exceeded. There was a steady demand throughout, with little or no alteration in values from last report. Coates, Matakohc. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London House with regard, to the wool sales, which opened yesterday:— Wool sales opened with a full attendance and spirited competition from Home and Continental As compared with the closing prices' of Hie preceding series of sales, M< rinn and fine crossbred showed an advance of 10 per cent, and medium and coarse crossbred 5 per cent, to 10 per cent.
