Winter Show Exhibit. The secretary, Mr A. H. Davies, reported having had conversation with various officers of the Waikato Winter Show Association on the question of the deleting of the present honey classes and replacing them with a district honey competition. The Show Association were in favour of the proposal, and were prepared do give each district a space of 6ft by ift. A motion of sympathy with Mr I. Hopkins, the old Auckland apiculture authority, in the loss of his wife was passed, the members standing. Beekeepers’ Field Oay. It was resolved to ask permission of Mr A. W. Green, manager of the Ruakura Farm of Instruction, for the holding of the beekeepers’ annual field day on the second Wednesday in February. It, was decided to appoint a committee, composed of Messrs Smedley, Westbrnoke, Trythall, Pearson and A. A. Davies to draw up a programme for the field day. Inspection, The chairman remarked that there, was still a great deal of foul brood about and it was evident they must do their utmost, in the eradication of the, disease. They should also do all in their power to urge Ihe Government to take active steps in the matter. A motion was passed asking the Department to have a resident inspector for the Waikato district appointed, also six temporary inspectors for three months for Hie Auckland province. Manager's Interesting Statement. Mr G. F. Ryland, manager of the N.Z. Go-operative Honey Producers’ Association, who was to have given an address in the afternoon, wired from Auckland that he was unable to attend. The wire also contained the following: “Favourable negotiations arc being arranged with an English agency for the disposal of the surplus New Zealand honey crop. Mr Massey while in London, together with the High Gorr.missioner, gave the Association great, help in facilitating these arrangements. It is reported that some 40 firms were anxious to obtain the agency for the disposal of honey in the Old Country. Money arriving in England now is offering for sale on an improving market and the Association is hopeful the prices realised will prove remunerative. Further advance payments will probably bo made to suppliers during November. The Association handled over 600 tons of honey last season, an increase of 120 tons on the previous year. Business in the supply department is also increasing. It is unfortunate that certain sections of tire public are inclined in view honey as a luxury rather than as an everyday article of diet and Nature’s purest sweet.”
