“THE STRAND” ATTRACTIONS. “Life’s a funny proposition” all right, and it takes Bill Desmond to tiling this home, with just a series of complications and mishaps as come his way in the picture of that title. Vitagraph’s special comic, starring Jimmy Aubrey, “He Laughs Last,” is a scream from shirt to finish, while interesting films, in topical, educational and scenic complete a splendid programme. This fine hill finishes this evening. “ISOBEL," OB “THE TRAIL'S END.’’ James Oliver Curwood’s mighty spectacle, starring House Peters, Jane Novak and all-star cast, in "Isohel,” or “The Trail’s End,” opens at the popular Strand to-morrow ■, Friday). In this production, which is that famous writer’s greatest story, is introduced many scenes which arc masses of living colour. RETURN OF “THE MIRACLE MAN.” The management announce that, after numerous requests, they have specially secured George Loano Tucker’s “record-breaker” film, “The Miracle Man,” which will be screened at next Saturday’s monster matinee at 2.30. KING’S THEATRE. The three stars programme, which was shown for the first t ime at the King’s Theatre last evening, met with great success. Mary Johnson, a pretty and accomplished Swedish actress, presented a powerful delineation in Dr. Selma Largerlofs enthralling story, “Snows of Destiny,” while Madame Doraidina, Metro’s star actress, was seen to advantage in Hie strong emotional play, “Forbidden Fruit." Charles Chaplin created fun and laughter in his screen farce, “A Suffragette.” Choice music added to the enjoyment of all present. Scats for to-night and 10-morrow evening may be reserved al Paul’s. “ANNE OF GREEN GABLES. The first of the “Realart" pictures to reach New Zealand is “Anne of Green Gables, which, opened at the Theatre Royal last evening before a very large and highly appreciative attendance. Mary Miles Mintor is at her very best in this picture, and the oilier players present excellent portraits of the characters of the book. “Anne of Green Gables” should not be missed. A very exciting episode of Eddie Polo’s “King of the Circus" thrilled spectators, while “Go Get ’em, Johnnie,” a clever comedy, created hearty laughter. A line copy of “Bray’s Pictograph and Cartoons,” a good Magazine and an interesting Gazelle completed the hig and thoroughly enjoyable programme. Seals should bo reserved at Paul’s.
