THE STEAMER BROXTON. TO GO INTO OVERSEAS TRADE. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The purchasers of the American sloaincr Broxton, not having received an acceptance of the offer made to the Government to sell the ship to the Slate, arc proceeding with the formation of a company with a capital of £l-1,000 to control the vessel. A master for the vessel has been engaged, and live offers of charters have already been received. The vessel will probably go into the overseas trade. The laic officers and crew of Hie ship have lodged claims totalling nearly £3OOO for wages, etc., and the case will be heard to-day by the Supreme Court in Admiralty jurisdiction. BURGLARIES IN CHRISTCHURCH. YOUNG MAN LOSES £205. CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. A number of small burglaries are reported from the suburbs. In one case the thieves secured £205, the property of a young man named L. Wilson, representing the savings with which lie intended to get married shortly. Wilson kept the money in a box in his bedroom, in the wardrobe, and it was stolen when the occupants of the house were away, in the evening.
