ENGINEERING TRADE DISPUTE. A DEADLOCK REACHED. (Australian and N-Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, October G. Tile negotiations between the engineering ami shipbuilding trade unions and Employers' Federation on the question of the withdrawal of the munitions bonus of 12J per cent for time workers, and 7 i per cent for piece workers, have reached a deadlock. The employers proposed to withdraw Die bonus by four instalmenls, completing it by December 2-4. The unionist delegates rejected ttie proposal. The employers arc adamant. They insist that the cuts shall bp completed before Christmas, and threaten to withdraw the bonus fully immediately failing an agreement. Later. The engineers have decided to ballot on’the abolition of the bonus.
