A. W. HOPKINS ARRESTED
ARRAIGNED FOR FRAUD. BAIL REFUSED. (]iv Telegraph.—Press Association). CIDHSTCHUUCII, Saturday. Wm. Allan Hopkins, land and estate agent, whose bankruptcy has been prominently before Die public, was arrested at Wellington yesterday on three charges of fraudulently failing to account for moneys entrusted to him. Hopkins appeared at Die Magistrate’s Court this morning, and was remanded till next Saturday. The charges involve respectively, £2OO, £BO, and £BSO, and the police state that others arc pending. Counsel made an application for bail on account of accused’s ill-health, but the Magistrate refused, stating that Hopkins could be attended by Die gaol physicians.
