POPULAR “MINE HOSTS.” A very pleasing function took place at the Royal Hotel, on Saturday, when Mr C. Trigg (late proprietor) and Mr W. Cleary, were tlic recipients of a handsome suit case each (both cases being suitably inscribed). Mr H. E. Tristram, in making the presentation, spoke of the sterling qualities of these gentlemen, and expressed flic regret that all felt at their leaving the hotel. He mentioned that both tiicse gentlemen were very liberal supporters of all branches of sport, and never failed to support any worthy object when the occasion arose.

Messrs Stevens, Speight anil Clarkin also spoke of the many kindnesses that these gentlemen had extended to the football players during the lime tlmy were In charge of the hotel, and heartily thanked them. Both gentlemen, in replying, said they had a hard .job to follow in their predecessors’ footsteps, so far as popularity was concerned, but would do their best for everyone.
