■ 7 £2,000,000 SQUANDERED ON A USELESS ENGINE. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received October 7, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, October 6. The Royal Commission on awards to inventors considered the claim of Walton Motors, Ltd., for £009,000 on account of aero engines. Eleven thousand dragon flies were ordered, but only 1000 were delivered, and none were used in the war. Sir Gordon Hewart said that £2,000,000 of the taxpayers’ money was spent in a vain effort lo make the dragon fly engine practicable.
