GRAND LODGE EXECUTIVE. Mr W. Lee Martin, Grand President of the Druids' Order, returned from Wellington this week, where he presided over a meeting of Ihe executive body. In the course of an interesting chat with one of our staff he mentioned that at Ihis meeting some very important matters were dealt with chief amongst lliem being a further development of the housing scheme. For many years the order has been advancing money on freehold securities to outsiders as well as their own members. This has now been altered, and in future (he whole of Ihe funds will be lent to members of Ihe order under a table repayment system by which principal and interest is liquidated in 20 years. The repayments are very light, running out at about 3s (id per £IOO per week- The alteration has become necessary owing to the popularity of the scheme amongst the members and the large number of applications being made by brothers of the order. Negotiations have been completed in connection with the purchase of a valuable property on Lambton Quay, Wellington. This is to be utilised in Ihe near future for the Grand Lodge office, and marks a furl her step in the progress of the society. A further advance was also made by taking over the Druidic Gazette. For some considerable time this has been published privately by one of the members of the order, but starling from November will in future be published from the Grand Lodge office as the official organ of the society.
Thc'Cirand President will be leaving about the 20th of. this month on an extended visit to (he lodges on the West Coast of the South Island.
