MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE

PREPARATION OF ROLLS. REMITS ADOPTED. Bv Telegraph.—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Tuesday. ■ A conference of delegates of the Municipal Association of New Zealand was opened this morning by the Go-vernor-General. There was a very Targe attendance, including Sir F. Bell, who made some references to the legislation which lhe Department of Internal Affairs proposes to introduce in regard to local body overdrafts.

The conference adopted a proposal by the Devonport Borough Council that the ratepayers' and.freeholders' roll and the residential electors' roll should be prepared, omitting unnecessary particulars.

II was resolved on the motion of Mr Bellringer (New Plymouth) that section 13 or the Municipal Corporations Act, 19.0, should be amended to authorise a town clerk to add to the district electors' roll the names of electors whose claims for enrolment have been actually received by him before the time fixed by the Act for the closing of such rolls.
