POLLUTION BECOMING A MENACE. BOROUGH COUNCIL ASKED TO ACT. The state of the Waitewhiriwhiri stream, running between Frankton and Whitiora, lias been the subject of comment from time to lime, and Hie ratepayers of Dudley Terrace, in a letter to Waipa County Council yesterday, stressed the danger that was imminent through offensive drainage being turned into it. They were growing alarmed, they said, at what might occur should there be a dry summer and the risk their children would incur by passing over the bridge daily to and from school. They asked The Council to see that the pollution of the stream was slopped. Cr. Ellicott said the refuse from the factories was running into the stream and the stench was getting abominable, ami as summer came it would be an undoubted danger to health. it was decided, as the factories are in the borough, to forward the complaint on lo the Hamilton Council, with a request that steps be taken lo abate the nuisance.
